*Beep! Beep! Beep!* the alarm sounded off, and as I reached over to “snooze” the clock, I noticed that Faith wasn’t there. One odd thing I’d also noticed was a piece of paper on my desk. I reach over and grab the paper. It has writing on it, and it’s slightly sloppy. It was from Faith “Dear Jacob, if you’re reading this now, then I am not in your house. You see, I did not leave because I disliked you, despite, you act quite overly affectionate, and the fact I’ve never told you about my boyfriend. It’s because, I had to go to something important, and I probably won’t be returning again. Don’t let this drag you down however, I’ll be fine finding my way. Best wishes, Faith”.
Despite the fact that she left without telling me, it didn’t faze me that much, but as I was about to brush my teeth, I saw some more writing on the back. I flipped the paper over, and in very rushed writing, it said, “She was only the first of many tests you will go through. The next one, will be a “fun” experience for you. –Anonymous”
As I skimmed the page over again, I thought to myself, “Tests? What kinds of tests are these? What will it serve?” I had forgotten the date, and it was still the weekend. I had decided NOT to head right to the PC and head into the living room. I then noticed my 3DS on the coffee table to the side, and it had a Pokémon cartridge inside. It was probably nothing really…
I decided to pick it up and turn it on. It looked like Pokémon Heart Gold was inside, so naturally, I turned the game on. I decided to start a new game since I didn’t remember where I left off the last time I played. Everything started off normal, until I got to choose my starter. Oddly, Totodile had been replaced by a Ghastly, from Generation 1. I’m not sure where this was going to lead, so I took the ghastly.
I used it the same as I would any other starter, until I had it evolve into Gengar. This was where it got weird again. The Gengar appeared anthropomorphic, it had a flat chest and a bit of chub in the belly, it wore a blue & sand colored hoodie, and had a bandage on her left cheek. Was this going to be the second test perhaps?
The Gengar appeared on screen, looking directly at me. She giggled as the screen turned white. Immediately after, she had appeared in front of me, yet not on the screen, right before my eyes. “W-who are you?” I stuttered as I try and process what was happening. She gives me a patient smile, but I still have a look of confusion on my face.
Before I try and open my mouth again, she tries to calm me by saying, “What are you so worried about? I’m not here to harm y-” “Oh really? I’m supposed to think that an anthropomorphic Gengar is going to assert themselves into my house without permission?!” As I tried to calm myself, I noticed her eyes dart around the room uncontrollably as I see beads of sweat trickle from her forehead, as she stuttered, “Um… yes…?” Despite her confusion, I let out a chuckle and pat her on the shoulder and say “Ha-ha! I was just messin’ with you! Hey, are you hungry at all?”
