(All three of my Popplio fanart pieces were deleted after FA came back on. That's a bit bothersome, but luckily I have the original descriptions from my other art pages intact.)
Colored version can be found here.
Now that I'm not partially brain dead from working I can talk a little more about the zbrush model I made for my last picture.
Like I said before, it was a really, really, really long time since I last touched, let alone finish, anything in Zbrush. Even though I encountered my old frustrations, it felt really great to use the program again after so long.
The body and head are separate and were both made with DynaMesh. What I should have done after finishing the basic model was retopologize them, but that is my least favorite process in the whole world, so I skipped mostly because I was only making this for a picture, not a perfect game model. I only regret not retopologizing the body because the back fins are suffering from some pinching in the fold area, but this can't be seen in the final result, so no loss there. In the future I'll try not to skip that process again since I need more practice with it. Eyeballs and nose were retopologized from basic shapes. The teeth and claws were from a single shape that I duplicated and mushed around. I don't remember what I did for the cloth. The lace, which I'm sad you can't see that well in the final result, was from a new process that I never tried before. The tutorial I followed can be found here.
This year has been off to a great start art-wise. I know I'm behind skill-wise, but this feels like the start of me catching up.
