Man, TWO colored art pieces in the span of a week? I'm probably upsetting the cosmic order somewhere.

I happened upon this character a few days back and was on a bit of a sketching roll that night. The base sketch came out well enough I decided to color it as well and with a little experimentation came out far better than I expected. I think I'm starting to get better with using thicker, more consistent brushes which I think evens out the larger scales I tend to use for my art (that is in providing sufficient contrast between subjects and the surrounding negative space). I also tried going a little simpler with my shading which goes well with the relatively simple design of the character in question. Using some simple spot lighting though helps this drawing pop a little more.
