Reminds me of the Princess Bride, where Westley related how when he was a prisoner of the Dread Pirate Roberts how Roberts kept telling him, "will probably kill you tomorrow". Makes me think Jack's thinking, "Grrrr, I can't kill you today, I need you! Will probably kill you tomorrow though."
