Gonna be MIA for the next few days... my gorilla and I celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary this weekend! Apparently 5 years is the "wood" anniversary... commence dirty jokes at will ;P

I felt like doing a really special piece for the occasion... this is inspired by an adventure during our first year together. We were canoeing home across the bay later than expected (it's a small bay, we'd just gone to have a drink with my parents at the pub on the other side XD), and found ourselves trying to find our way back in the dark. Suddenly, we noticed trails of greenish glow coming from our paddles as they dipped in the water. We took our time paddling home after that, playing with the glowing water and splashing it around.
Bioluminescence is unusual this far north, so it took us completely by surprise... the experience was one of the most magical I can recall. I've been wanting to paint it ever since, but wanted to wait until I felt I could do it justice :3

Anyway, we're renting a cabin on a small island for the long weekend to celebrate our wood anniversary in proper romantic style (hurr, hurr...) XD So I apologize if I don't reply very quickly to emails while I'm gone! I'll be too busy smooching my gorilla <3 hehe!
