It's their worky work. They go to work, and play with us. For every quest they get, they get monies. Or their version of monies. If they win (Aka, if they make us fail the quest) then they get a bonus.

No one takes their quest, they get no monies. :<

Um, in 3u I have like, WAY too much raw meat because I'm too lazy to cook it, only cooking it when I need it (that one felyne in Tanzia who gives you 10 well done steaks every once and a while is my BFF). So I can spare plenty of meat.
(Once I cooked an entire stack of well done steaks while fighting Dire Miralis, voice chat was on and everybody was like "WTF ARE YOU DOING!? HELP US!" and I responded with, "I'm hungry, I can't go around with no stamina." I don't think they cared)
