Generally in most cases, yes. Its often difficult to determine a gem's truuuuuuuue origins of a single specimen, but typically the rock/soil/mineral content in Africa does help promote a deeper, richer violet, where the lands of Brazil have that softer, lighter shade. On the flip side, some Amethysts get particularly too dark, which prevents much light from shining through to make it sparkle.
