The worlds of
baroncoon’s imagination are populated by, among others, a myriad of species that would be recognizable to a human in the real world as resembling anthropomorphized versions of many of the extant modern mammals. These anthropomorphized species are replaced in their original ecological niches by animal species descended from Plioscene mammals. Such “replacement” species may coexist with anthropomorphized or unaltered species in the same taxonomic order or family. Primates, however, are entirely absent and apparently never evolved at all.

Heh! I buttonholed
baroncoon as we sat in the living room. He replied “none”, “some”, or “all” as I read off taxonomic groupings, sometimes with footnotes, and I compiled the list, wrote up a little intro, et voilà!
