This is just a little something I designed for RuntyTiger on his 21st Birthday, witch is today the 15th of December 2007. Ok this composition was a last minute doodle which actually turned out magnificently.

I initially decided to do something which involved my fursona and Runty’s fursona interacting in some sort of environment. I decided against this idea because my time was limited and mainly because I was afraid that whatever I draw would not do justice to Runty’s character.

Thus my next idea was a pendant of some sort, something very straight forward, but very powerful and suggestive of the artist himself! And this is what emerged from my idea a tattoo like emblem of a tiger roaring. “Yea after you hit 21 its all down hill from there.” Just kidding =^_^=

I tried to make this emblem represent Runty it all his amazing aspects, such as his playfulness, his passion and his pride. I think it was successful, but some might ague that it is too aggressive, but I think it is really lovely.

I initially outlined the image roughly in pencil first then when I was happy with the proportion I drew over it using a black fine liner pen. The final step required me to colour in the main features such as his stripes, his ear , his nose and his eyebrow in a thick black permanent marker. This in my opinion balances out the composition more and finally I used an orange colour pencil to create the smudge effect.

Once that was finished I scanned it in and redefined certain parts and then added the text and that was it. I’m really happy with the result and I hope Runty adores it as much as I do because I really enjoyed making it for him.

It looks so good that I may still make it into a wearable pendant.
