Well last week Saturday I was invited to a very close friend of mines 21st Birthday party. Her name is Michelle and we have been friends since grade 2, which is about plus minus 12 or so years. So you could say I’ve known her for a fairly substantial amount time. *Blushes*

I custom designed and in part made this adorably cute kitten pendant made from high grade quality sterling silver. She loves all felines and especially cats in particular. Therefore I thought in an appropriate gift. The entire process took almost two weeks, a week to come up with a design and another week for me to purchase the silver, cut out the basic kitten silhouette and then hand in on to an experienced and very talented jeweller I know.

She did an amazing job cutting out the finer details of the kitten and polishing the edges. I’m so pleased with the outcome that I was a little sad to part with it because it turned out beautifully. I would have attempted the finer details myself, but unfortunately I don’t have the necessary tools in order to do the job as precise as she was able to do it.

Plus after the pendant was complete I also got it engraved saying ‘Happy 21st Michelle love Byron, 08’ Considering the special nature of turning 21 I decided to make something extra special, that is why I attempted it. I would not usually put so much effort into a birthday gif, only if it was for my mate! The only downside to making custom jewellery is its a lot more expensive, but the one of a kind uniqueness is something much more appreciated than jewellery that has been mass produced in the thousands.

This is the fourth pendant I’ve made, the first I designed and made was a lion type of pendant for myself, the second was another lion pendant I made for my love Toeknee and in fact the pendant he has is the mate to my pendant. Hopefully one day when we meet soon I’ll show him the significance of the two when you place the two pendants close together. The third pendant I made is a collar pendant for a very special friend of mine. I don’t want to give away too much for it is a gift for his birthday coming up in a few months time. *Hush*

I hoping to start up my very own line of jewellery specifically furry jewellery, customised for furry couples and individuals. This holiday I will be designing a range or silver rings to hopefully sell online. Therefore if anyone is interested in my designs or the jewellery itself, please feel free to send me a note. Other than that I love the way this pendant turned out and I hope Michelle appreciates it as much as I enjoyed making it for her. I will in the next few weeks upload pictures of my other creations so keep a look out. If you are wondering how thick the silver is, it’s approximately 1.2mm thick and the dimensions of the pendant are 50x43mm.
