House Koneion
Government: Elective Monarchy, each colony’s mother selects the High Queen from valid candidates.
Holdings: Majority of their territory is on Lygos Prime, the Torix Homeworld.
Koneion has the largest population of the major Torix Houses. They utilize their significant numbers of representatives in the Imperial Senate to influence the other Houses of the Torix Empire with their ideology. Their proponents state that the House is selflessly acting for the benefit of all Torix, guiding them with ancient wisdom during troubling times. Detractors believe they are selfishly only working for the best interests of their own House, or just misguidedly stagnating themselves while the other Houses move forward.
House Koneion is focused on the past, believing the problems facing modern Torix as a whole stem from the fact that they have strayed too far from the old ways. Workers have no direct say in the government and are very limited in the variety of leadership positions they can hold. The mother-queen of a colony holds absolute authority over her offspring. Males and workers cannot own land. Biological, genetic and technological enhancement is frowned upon, and even totally banned in some cases. Their society is homogeneous and individualism is highly discouraged.
Trade still occurs with alien races, though sharing any form of media is strictly prohibited. Only a select few princes and princesses are allowed to speak to aliens face to face. Since their territory is located far from the borders of the Empire, outside contact is fairly minimal anyways.
Members of House Koneion see themselves as citizens of the Torix Empire first, and members of their own House second. Their denizens are encouraged to work for the good of the entire species, rather than seeing themselves competing with the other Houses.
