An absolutely amazing ref of sorts of my Peryton character Dexter.

Peryton's are a mythological creature combining parts from a stag and a bird of prey (a bit about the mythology http://www.deviantart.com/art/Mini-.....yton-300387074) - the specific species influencing Dexter's design are the Axis Deer and African Eagle Hawk.

One notable part of Peryton mythology is that they cast the shadow of a human until they kill and eat the heart of one. After doing so they cast their own shadow and can basically go on with their life - some continue to hunt/consume human hearts and some prefer to play 'wolf in sheep's clothing' and infiltrate herd of deer and pick them off one by one.

I've established Dexter's story to follow the second path more so than the first one, however he doesn't object to hunting humans (deer are just easier). The left picture depicts his normal form, with the right picture depicting his 'savage'/hunting form he goes into after tasting blood. His story is intertwined with my Wickerbeast character Bergamot, and I'll write more about them later.
