Caleb O'Dell is a fine strapping donkey, the second son and one of ten kids in his family. Jessie Mae Watt's his girlfriend. The opossum's family is just as big, and they're neighbors.
They're also boyfriend and girlfriend. They'll feud from time time (usually when he does something to make her have to take her weekly bath again), but they usually kiss and make up.
Well, quite a bit more activity than kissing is involved, but you get the idea.
