That's right, I've reached new levels of nerddom by putting other peoples Fursonas in skimpy superhero outfits. ...tho i guess I can't tell who she is cause of that mask. Right,
Caldy ? Hey, where'd she go? o.O
The Star Saphire's edict is to spread and protect Love througout the universe. ...heh, alrightly then. ^///^ Unfortunately, they have some odd ways of going about this task.
In it's past incarnation, before the saphire was forged into a ring, the crystal's misson was to to seek out a Green Lantern's true love- get the Lantern laid.... then Kill said lantern and encase the entire planet in crystal such that that moment will last forever. -something about Love can only be eternal in Death... Yet they're also protective of the one they love- dangerously so.
Saphire greatly effects the will and thoughts of the person who wears it- saturating them with emotion. Has actualy been described as feeling reealy realy drunk.
<.< jeeze, i wrote all that and didn't even touch on the character?
This particular ring was sent out as a probe to initate contact with a Blue Lantern, and determine if they will pose a threat to the Saphire corps. Durring an attack by the Sinestro Corps- the Blue Lantern of that sector was activated- the saphire ring chose a host....

She tried to join- but i think the Saphire rings are scared of her for some reason. >.>
Are my tanks plotting to kill me!?
that's a little more power than I'm comfortable with anyone around here having.
Someone with both a Saphire ring and a Red ring... now THAT would be scarry. -and possably bi-polar. o.O .....ya know, i still don't see how Saphire can cause destruction on a planetary scale. must be a reactive or resonateing effect.
Actualy- Blue Lantern's strike me as being like support units (like white mages) thus far... I was kinda hopeing they'd be like an antithesis to the Sinestro Corps... tho that 200% power ring charge and ability to draw energy directly from the emotional sepctrum are nice tricks!
I suppose it is the fate of those who fight for balence, to invite evil...
but the Zammarians (I think thats the name for the leaders of the Star Saphires) seem to be extremeists and are not above brainwashing- so I'd hardly trust them either. I'm very curious to see how the Saphire Corp is going to turn out.
Meanwhile, the Blue Lanterns actually seem too good to be true... but right now I'd trust Gathet more than anyone else in that comic...
Y'know, the Guardian who seems to be doing the most work with the prophecy of blackest night is the one who was hurt and scarred by Superboy Prime. Perhaps they've gone a bit crazy.
