Slobber Ref - personal (pet)
Threw together a haphazard reference sheet of my cat (aka my precious baby), Slobber, just in case I wanted to get art of her. :"D
I love her dearly, and I'd love to see how other artists interpret her in their style!
Name: Slobber
Nicknames: Slob, Slubs, Stinky, Slob Bob
Sex: Female
Age: About a year or two I think?
Fur Color: Chocolately Brown/Black
Eye Color: Green
Pawpad Color Grey
PERSONALITY
She's super loving but also really skittish. She'll run away if you make any sudden movements or noises, but she'll love on you if you approach her calmly. She really REALLY loves to be brushed.
She drools a lot and can often be spotted with a long strand of drool hanging off her chin. She especially loves to rub her slobber all over your hand/arms when you pet her.
She makes the tiniest, croakiest meows when its dinnertime and she scratches the litterbox to wake you up for breakfast. Speaking of the litterbox, she's not really good at covering up her stuff so she spends a good 5 minutes just digging through the litterbox really loudly.
When she plays, she's not afraid to charge, going into full-on hunt mode when she's attacking her toys. Her erratic movement is actually really funny, tbh.
She also sticks her tongue out a lot due to her mouth being icky (still working on that), and her fur is really stinky and scraggly since she can't groom herself very well and isn't very cooperative when we help her.
BACKSTORY
This lil baby may sound like a mess but she used to be much worse. She was a stray cat that just ended up on our back porch near the end of last year. She was in terrible condition - matted, drooling, thin, sickly. Honestly, she looked rather scary. It wasn't until I went outside to feed her and she walked up to me to rub on my leg that I knew she really needed someone to love her.
We were finally able to take her inside after the winter after begging my partner's parents over and over.
We've taken her to the vet multiple times, and if we had left her untreated, she'd probably be dead right now. She had ulcers on her tongue and a an upper respiratory infection due to feline herpes. She tested faintly for feline leukemia. And since we weren't able to take her in any earlier, she became pregnant. (AND she had a uterine infection. Thank goodness we got her spayed during the pregnancy.)
Her ulcers are healing very slowly and her URI seems to be getting better. She used to not be able to make noise at all, but now she can make little meows! She still drools, though, but her dads love her and buy her the nice kitty wipes.
Almost all of her mats are gone! She just has a hard time keeping herself clean and we don't really want to stress her out with another bath so we just wipe her down a lot.
She currently spends her days sleeping in her bed and /our/ bed, and sitting away from us to let us know that its pet time. She gets to eat the $2-a-can food that she loves (I hope she knows we love her a lot, haha), and she gets brushed to look like the lil princess she is.
We have to take her back to the vet next month to retest for feline leukemia, I'll let you guys know how that goes! We're hoping she comes back negative but we're prepared for the worst.
Sorry for the wall of text but she's our miracle baby, and I love her to death and back. I'd do anything for her, tbh, and I just want her to live a life that's as long, healthy, and happy as we can make it! <3 <3
