Anyway, the original The Treachery of Images points out that the painting is not a pipe, but the painting of a pipe. The painting is creating the illusion of a pipe by imitating the shape and colors of a pipe, but you can't use it to smoke tobacco because it isn't real. I really think it is one of the most important pieces of art ever.
