Tech had barely known Rev for two weeks, and yet, already, the two had formed a fast bond. Sharing a love of science and technology, the excitable roadrunner was eager to learn from the inventive coyote, and the coyote was delighted to give lengthy explanations to someone who actually enjoyed listening to them. In fact, Tech was one of the few people that Rev seemed to listen to much at all, considering how easily distracted the cheerful bird usually was. The roadrunner looked up to Tech, and the self-aggrandizing Tech thoroughly enjoyed the ego trip that came with having a disciple. Although the roadrunner's ADD nature, and Tech's pompous attitude, had a way of provoking eye-rolls from their other teammates, the two relative social outcasts quickly proved to be a near-inseparable duo.
And so it was when Tech called Rev to his lab for an introduction to medical training. Although the coyote's specialties were programming and engineering, he knew more than enough general science to be a capable team doctor, and, he figured, the bright roadrunner should become familiar with the field as well to help strengthen team resources. As the two headed towards the back of Tech's lab to begin, the coyote noticed that the roadrunner seemed a bit quieter than normal. Perhaps the bird was nervous about the unfamiliar vocation, Tech thought to himself, as they reached the back of the room and he began to gather supplies for his lesson.
Soon the pair was hunched over an introductory anatomy book, with Tech enthusiastically describing system after system. Rev followed along with obvious ease, nodding and agreeing, pushing any doubts that the coyote had had about the bird's capabilities from his head. As Tech turned to the chapter about the circulatory system, though, he stopped suddenly, looking up.
"You know, Rev," he said, pushing aside the book, "this would be a lot easier to explain with a corporeal working model. Here, hold on a sec-- I've got an idea..." Tech hopped up from his chair and turned his back to Rev, and, as the bird watched with eyes wide in surprise, the coyote stripped off his uniform with a few well-polished movements, baring his toned physique. Tech grinned, placing his folded-up uniform on a chair, and hopped onto a nearby lab bench in his boxer shorts. "Here," he said, gesturing to Rev, "take this." He tossed a shiny stethoscope to the roadrunner, who, having regained his composure before the coyote noticed anything amiss, caught the instrument, and walked over.
"Put that on-- this will really help you understand the circulatory system," the coyote began. "I'll walk you through it. And while we're at it, remember," he continued grandly, "the trick to conducting an effective physical examination is acute observation..."
Rev complied and donned the ear pieces, silently, as Tech glanced down and pressed the head of the stethoscope to his own bare chest. Immediately, the coyote became engrossed in a detailed explanation of valves, chambers, and arteries. As he gestured to different parts of his body to help illustrate his lecture, he realized that the road runner really was being uncharacteristically quiet. Was his explanation getting too dense for the bird...?
The coyote stopped and looked up, slowly...only to meet the deep gaze of the roadrunner, staring right back into his eyes...
The coyote, wide-eyed, felt his heart skip a beat... and he knew that the handsome bird had heard it, loud and clear...

I simply wanted to do a prequel to my previous picture. ^^ I felt bad about neglecting my OTP before and thought that perhaps a little story about Tech and Rev's early history together would even things out. (As an aside, my previous picture was drawn over a year ago, whereas this picture was drawn this week, so there is actually a slight style shift evident... alas!)
