The pokemon Mystery Dungeon games all have a very near and dear place in my heart. Their themes have always hit me very hard for personal reasons. Super Mystery Dungeon, which I bought recently, is no different.

So here’s Mèng jiàn and Sanjariti, of Team Daydreamers/The Daydreamers.
Their names mean ‘(to) see in a dream’ and ‘Dream’ respectively.

Mèng jiàn is still coping with having lost their memory and ending up in a place they don’t know in a body they don’t belong in. Admittedly, this leads them to snap at their partner more often than may be necessary, albeit, in a usually calm way, they don’t do much voice raising. They prefer physical attacks and items over special attacks, because using them reminds them all the more of the fact that their body is wrong in every way from species to age.

Despite this, he appreciates Sanja very deeply, even if he mostly wanted to slap the poor kid upside the head at first (and sometimes still does). He’s come to realize that despite their headstrong and hyperactive nature, their heart is, more than anyone’s, in the right place, and that more than anything they just need someone to listen to them the way Sanja was the only way to listen when Mèng jiàn insisted he was human to the disbelief of everyone around him.

Sanja has calmed down a lot since meeting Mèng jiàn, but their energy remains high enough to keep Mèng jiàn inspired to help others while trying to help himself.
