What you see is my National Geographic Magazine collection - well, part of it. The bookcase is made of white pine boards and I built the case myself back around 1980. It's held up amazingly well, but due to the weight of the magazines on it (a year's worth of issues weighs about 12 pounds - yes, I checked) it has to be screwed to brackets set into the wall.
In the shelves you see the years 1964 to 2016 inclusive. In storage I have complete years from 1936 to 1963, and after 2017 I'll have to package up another decade or so and put them in the warehouse as well.
The sculpture on the top shelf is a museum reproduction of Antonio Canova's Three Graces. The painting was acquired at a local flea market.
Kunst is kein luxus.

The (in)famous Yellow-Backed Space Gobbler. When my parents bought our second house in 1961, it came with a collection dating back to 1921 -- and the house was built in 1930. This is why I invested in the digital (DVD) archive, although I have to copy it to my tablet if I want to sit with an issue in my lap.
And I found my picture from an issue about 25 years ago. Still looking for the picture of my brother walking two (long-deceased) dogs.
