I have always had a love of building machines... Some might even call it an obsession. I often build powerful custom made systems to sell on Ebay and may very well expand to FA so people can commission systems from me.
This one however is all mine :D
This is my personal supercomputer for which i have great pride. Its a bit over 4' tall and around a bit over 2' wide... also yes those are vacuum tubes glowing inside...

Well damn..... here I thought my Cosmos was overkill.
The photo quality is pretty low, but do I see Realistic Pro 2A/Koss Pro 4AAA Headphones on the door?
I don't see any hint of vacuum tubes, so I'm guessing that's them behind the fan grill up top? No speakers, so I'd guess it's a low power tube amp.
Not sure if you're an audio buff, or just really like fancy tech.

Yes! those are the headphones!
I don't have speakers because they would serve no purpose when i can just wear headphones. Noise isolation and sound quality is amazing yes tube amp is behind the Grill and you can just see a yellow glow on the left side. from them. It is a small amp but very important because the current draw on these headphones killed the sound-card on my last mobo. I'm no audio buff. The mic is just so i can chat with my friends on skype/discord because it bothers me how bad the sound is on most mics. The panel below the switchboard is a tape storage library, I am considering replacing it with a large HDD array or the like. Tape is cheap but good software for it is expencive and only getting worse.
Bottom is the UPS... its very powerful and i can run this whole system for 45 min on 0 incoming power. Considering how often the power flickers or go's out for a few min at a time that's important where i live. second to teh Bottom is a PCI expansion chassis which allows me to use many far more cards than otherwise. Its built well enough that the whole system only uses between 214 and 250 watts.

Yeah I thought so. I had some for many years..... bought them new in the store.
Speakers serve MUCH purpose, even if not yours. Can't feel the beat in your chest from speakers, for example. My DCM bookshelf speakers do a pretty nice job on quality, and a Velodyne fills in the low end. I admit I am running a simple camera mic though. Broken headset costs unavailable money to replace.
Yeah, I'd lose the tapes. Slow and clunky, even if you overlook the software issue. And large media/archiving drives are so cheap these days. It's not really even practical to burn disks for storage these days.
UPSs are very important. But most of them have such expensive batteries that they're nearly disposable.
Not bad on power consumption. Considering the headphone amp probably pulls at least 25W on it's own. Probably running a gold or platinum PSU.....they really do pay for themselves. Not just on direct electrical cost, but also indirectly on cooling during summer months.
