Just something I doodled to try and get things going for my comic.

So how much does a Round buy?
That's always a problem with money... knowing what it's worth. Modern currencies are bought and sold on the market, so at least you can say this many Francs are worth that many Yen, or so many Dollars will buy so many Rupees. But how much is 2nd. century Denarius worth? Or an Tudor silver penny? The only meaningul comparison you can make is to state the value in how much bread or cloth or seed the money will buy. Unfortunately, it isn't that simple. We often don't know even this much. Worse... in one time and one place, a penny might buy a night's lodging in an inn, but only one shoe. The same amount of silver struck as a dinar or a shilling in another time and place, might not be sufficient for a room in an inn, but might buy a complete pair of shoes! The commodities also change in relative value over time.
So what is a Round worth? Would it buy a copy of the comic?

It makes sense, and it works very well here. It reminds me of the vintage slides that I often work over for clients. It's almost exactly that shade of maroon that positive film drifts to over the years. So to my eyes, it gives the whole thing a vintage cast, like something out of history. :)
Well done. :)
