It may seem odd that neither the Wolf Queen nor the Master of Elfhame are scared out of their wits by the appearance of Kringle Unaussprechlichen, the younger brother of the Frost Lord. At least in the case of Winterbough, this is likely because of the Great Bargain struck long ago in the Long Ago, by which the Kringle agreed to leave the Vale alone in return for toy-tribute. As for the Wolf Queen, her upbringing in the underground village of Artemisiaford likely insulated her from the threat of the Kringle. Thus, oddly, making them two of the very few furs in the Mephitist Empire of any repute that could stand in the presence of the Kringle without going mad from fear.

A passing reference in this episode does bring up something I was wondering about when WW5 showed up in Ballad Of Adler Young. I suppose the whole whispering bit will be explained in due time. But I had thought that WW5 had left the service by the time Gawain ascended the throne? Or was it when the Marshall went to Fuma's Embrace?
But note that the one episode so far that appears to have been written by Stella appears to have been written long after Estmere's (presumed, in Elfhame) death, and there are a number of other references to Marshal Roland having passed on; Roland was alive at least into the early part of Estmere's reign.
The brothers have a far more cordial relationship than I had supposed.
Everyone in Faerie fears the Kringle as the ultimate bogeyman. (well, okay, they don't worry about him much in the Southlands where Winter never comes, and obviously they had never even heard of him in Artemesiaford) The elves regard the Frost Lord with suspicion as some sort of puppet / collaborator who rules Frostheim on the behalf of (and/or in terror of) the tyrannical Kringle.
I doubt anyone outside of Frostheim even knows they are brothers.
Surprised that Kringle hasn't made mention of the Wolf Queen's apparent lack of typical elfly dread in his presence.
