In 2015, we made a squirrel fullsuit.
The tail was sized to be proportioned to the body, however it was rather heavy.
After some discussion with the customer, we installed an inflatable inside of the tail to 'lighten the load'.
Not only is the tail more easy to travel with, it has decreased in weight a lot and is more flexible to pack.

This was the last serious issue with the suit.
Previously the tail weighed more than seven pounds... Imagine hooking that to the back of your suit in just one spot, sadly the dang tail was choking me. Current weight is just about two pounds making it a wonderfully light, bouncy, swingable, and hugable.
ONLY issue is extra care must be given to the inflatable. Twice I've had to replace or fix the bladder, once because something somehow poked a hole through the tail and just tagged the bladder, the second time a friend sat on it :(
