I know its inaccurate that Imperial guards go out of their way to help a single fallen space marine get to an apothecary but I just thought it'd look cool.

Perhaps such a thing has carried beyond just a single nation in a single era.
We do a lot of things because we believe them morally right. Sometimes it gets us in trouble, and sometimes it exonerates us. Sometimes it creates a mess, and other times it cleans them up.
This could totally be the cover of some 40k novel
