Behold my VEEEEEEEERRRRY First cartoon character I EVER came up with when I was under 10 yrs old!!

His name is Chato (ch-ah-toe) inspired by an old pet dog of ours when I was younger with the same name.

This is a character I haven't drawn at all lately but I do have some veeeeeeeeery old doodles of him in my gallery. The earlier 2000's version of him anyways.

I came up with him in the early-mid 90's when I was in school and was OBSESSED with pop music and Pop culture of the 90's.
Our Real life dog Chato was a Pitbull, so I always pictured him as kind of a tough character because of my brother never really trained him to behave, he jumped on you and would chew on your stuff and tug on his leash, etc.

So I designed My cartoon version of Chato to be a really cool friendly polite but still fun and hyper character. And that would be him on the Left, 1990's Chato who I will have to re-name cause I wanna bring him back!!! lol to Current 2000's Chato's annoyance lol

See 90's Chato was mostly hashed out in my mind as a kid whenever I listened to *PRINCE* and his unfortunate passing recently not only made me listen to his music again but also, once I heard 1999 again it brought memories of 90's Chato back from the faaaaaaaaar reaches of my subconscious.

And it made me open my eyes and go "Oh My God!! I remember you!!!"

The current 2000's Chato is more hip hop R&B Soul based while 90's Chato is more Pop/Rock/ and Indie based.
One is deep and serious and intimidating and the other is fun random artsy fartsy if you will :)

It just goes to show you how a character can change so dramatically without even realizing it.

I'm making them brothers hahaha!! And Present Chato looks so happy about his old self makin a come back haha!!

90's Chato actually used to wear a coat/jacket too but I changed it up to a puffy 90's sweater to relate to the decade more, plus that is what I used to picture him wearing in PRINCE's 1999 song, he also had 2 friends who I'll probably bring back too and update soon -^^-

I also added some highlights to his hair and an earring, very 90's XD I also made him know karate and cool fighting moves as a kid so totally gonna keep that, and he loves to roller skate.
