Entry for Otherworld-ARPG (on DeviantArt)'s prompt of Struggle, featuring Japur and Maka (who belongs to 3DAri on DeviantArt).
Japur had seen Maka around for a while, but she also knew that the darker Minkin had not had it easy recently. A lot of her close friends had died or gone missing - it's how life in Xenith goes, but it is devastating nonetheless. Japur wanted to offer some sort of comfort to the poor creature, perhaps a shoulder to cry on, but to her surprise, every friendly approach from Japur was met with a glare and a snarl from Maka.
"Why don't you just mind your own business?"
At first, Japur thought she just happened to catch Maka in a bad moment. Only many tries later did she realize Maka was always having a bad moment. Japur did not give up, though, even though she questioned her own determination. Was there really a point in trying to be a rock for someone who seemed intent to smash it with a hammer?
"I thought you would have found something better do to by know. You know, hobbies or something. Ever heard of those?"
No, Japur couldn't pretend she'd had a lot of success in finding friendliness in the other Minkin. But she vowed she would try to stay friendly to Maka anyway. For now, she would just have to struggle through Maka's attitude. And her mean remarks. And dodge her hooves whenever Maka reached the point where even she lost her patience. It just might pay off somehow.
