Senior project - ceramics - part 3 - shattered
So I got it out of the kiln today, and I was full of spunk. So happy to see a fully hardened, bleach white vase, but I was created with the shame of pulling pieces out instead.
I'm not upset, but disapointed. I'm not in dismay, but I am optimistic. I'm not discouraged, I'm prompted to learn from flaw and learn from the error.
The problem was there was a single air bubble in the base... about 2cm diameter. It shattered down and the ripple must have shocked the whole thing, making more cracks. What I learned is that hand wedging is better than wheel wedging. A shame, but it happens.
