Well in the interest of science, we located the nearest defective star trek transporter, and took a little trip.

Macroceli, everything you draw is just so awesome I'm running out of ways to tell you how awesome it is. I've never seen a Kangaroo/T-rex before (I do love the name Tyranoroo too. Thanks to 
werewolfsense for coining the term) and unfortunately I probably never will, but I'm sure this is exactly what one would look like. ^^
I also really like how smoothly you blended the designs, the coloring flows very well and a lot of the character features work very well together (I love the nose and the legs). If I haven't been saying it it's only because I don't want to be redundant, but you're very impressive Macroceli. I really hope life doesn't get you down.

Question: did you both transport at the same time on 1 pad and materialize on another pad(the results would be a merge)?
Yes, this is similer to Tuvix and I never seen "The Fly" but heard of it!
Also another question: are you sure there wasn't an error in the transporter scanners?*
* This happened in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, when 2 crew members(Commander Sonak and Vice Admiral Lori Ciana) beamed onto the refit Enterprise transporter room, the Image scanner was not operational at the time and both crew members began to deform( We hear Sonak moan and Lori Scream)! The transporter failed and the half-materialize bodies of both crew members were sent back where they beamed from(Earth)! We don't actually see what happens to them or what they became - as the scene was intended for the audiance to use their imagination and an officer on earth stated "They didn't live long!"
Of all Transporter scenes in Star Trek - the one in TMP was the most disturbing, but I'm glad that everything came out okay with your little experiment and now comes the question of "can we restore you as the other 2?
