Nagaharpies are a closed species,
i don't claim to own nagas or harpies,

✖ GENDER & BREEDING ✖
Nagaharpies are all hatched as females,
they mate with human males to produce more
offspring and keep the species thriving.
✖ LAND NAGAHARPIES ✖
Nagaharpies that remain inland are often secluded from
largely populated areas, they live within forests or deserts
in surrounding areas of cities.
For mates, they often will wait, even years, for a stray male
to be wondering through their areas, picking them up as a possible
partner. Very rarely will a Nagaharpy fall in love or want to keep
the human around after breeding, but if they do, they will be attached
and fully committed to staying beside that person, regardless of them
going back to a busy area or not.
✖ Orientation [both land and sea];
Nagaharpies have no set orientation, and if they desire to
court and remain beside other genders than male, they will. It is not seen
as odd or strange in the Nagaharpy culture.
✖ SEA NAGAHARPIES ✖
Ones from the sea don't live or breath under water.
They live upon the cliffs in caves above the ocean, their skin
is thicker than those of the inland nagaharpies for they need to
withstand the breeze and cool of the sea.
Their breath can be held for an average of 7-10 hours, though children often
can hold their breath for up to 12 hours, often being hidden in kelp beds at
the bottom of the shores for protection while the mothers are away.
Sailors often see the nagaharpies and bring them fresh fish from their catch
or other foods that might interest them, much like a friendly gesture. Villages that
have the sea nagaharpies often refer to them as "Sepies".
However when new boatmen enter the area, they're often spooked by the swarming
of them to see if they've brought them food, many mistaking them for sirens or mermaids
come to bring them to the bottom of the sea.
✖ EGGS AND CHILDREN ✖
Both Land and sea give birth in the same manner.
When fertilized they grow and egg withing their cervix for up
to around 10 months.
Only one egg is ever made at a time, but twins [often safely premature] can
happen within the same egg shell.
Infants will remain in the egg for up to 2 months, before hatching.
During this time the mother never leaves the egg, even if it means not hunting
or getting any sleep. They're extremely protective, even some with partners have
shown aggression to keeping the egg with them.
Infants will learn to fly at the age of 3, helping them better maneuver around.
And full internal maturity and birthing age for a nagaharpy is at 20.
✖ LIFE SPAN ✖
The average life span of a nagaharpy is around 150-200 years old
✖ DIET ✖
Nagaharpies mainly eat meat, only very rarely eating anything else.
For land, they mainly enjoy beef or pork.
For Sepies, they enjoy fish of all sizes.
They can eat anything raw, but they are civilized and prefer to
cook a good meal with spices.
✖ SCREECHING ✖
All nagaharpies have the same ability to screech,
this renders enemies or prey paralyzed from the sheer volume
and strength of the noise they can emit.
But most would rather not use it, especially if they are well
trained in stealth catching.
A small screech can cause sparks to fly from their mouths, often using
this method to start fires for cooking or heating their domain.
✖ TAILS ✖
Yellow = Common
Orange = Uncommon
Red = Rare
It is extremely uncommon for any species to be
born with alternative tails, making them a 'higher'
respect in the culture, believing the gods have blessed them.
✖ HORNS ✖
Almost no nagaharpies are born with horns, making the common, just
as uncommon as the rest, however the ones who hatch with them are
usually simple and small.
Larger and more impressive horns are seen as a simple of divine love,
that the nagaharpy with them will be loved by all.
✖ EYES ✖
Spiral eyes aren't seen in good light for the
nagaharpies, often thinking the eye means that
the individual will cast spells or ruin lives.
Many distance themselves but some find it nothing
to be worried about and care not.
