Very nice! I have my stuff posted Here, and I have my exhaust video on Youtube, what exhaust did you go with?
wow I almost cant believe this, but the same exhaust as you! Flowmaster American Thunder cat back system. I am also eyeing those same half covers for my own car. My father has them on his 15 Challenger. Love all the photos as well! Also the second account ive seen of a hydro locked Challenger, glad you sourced a new motor!
I'll be honest, I was lucky enough to stop next to another R/T a month or so back that had the Corsa ATAK, and it sounded pretty amazing; but it was a bit pricey at the time. as for the hydrolock... it seems to be a common issue with the OEM air box, since it only pulls from underneath the car.
I almost went with the the Corsa ATAK but decided on the Flowmaster for the price. Still pretty happy with it. Next project is to change out the rear end since I have an automatic car with an open rear diff. Also yeah, like I said I have heard of other cars getting hydrolocked and has put me off a cold air intake but you said it happened with the stock airbox, wow
Yeah, apparently it's actually a big issue with the OEM box, and after going over it I get why, the OEM only pulls from under the car, and it's sealed otherwise, so it can get a very strong suction into it. It's an issue that cost quite a few owners the loos of their cars, I feel I was lucky... though I'm still upset it happened at all. I have a fairly basic CAI in their now, just because I don't trust the box in even an inch of puddle now, but I think letting it breath from all sides, except the engine sides is the best for preventing that, and if you're worried at all, one of those hydrophobic air filter covers, as they should help some if you get excessive water up there.
Quite possibly! And the only thing I'd add as a cautionary with CAIs would be maybe avoid Scepter, they are fairly inexpensive and work fine, but they don't look great and use an aluminum tube to link rubber parts, which looks kinda tacky, and the rubber on their filters tends to disintegrate in relatively short time.
