Old Art - 15yr old me + Dragons
Old throwback art. If you're interested then please read on.
I love dragons. My family's culture always saw them as mystical auspicious beasts - not crazed gold hoarders who captured damsels, ate livestock, and did battle with knights. Dragons was almost like a personal trademark for me - everyone would bequeth me small tokens with dragon motiff. Right around the time I was 15 years old I started to have fun with dragons. I had little stories for each elemental dragons. They were wise, shy, powerful, graceful, and controlled aspects of day to day lives.
Here I have the designs I made of the mysterious water dragon who lurks in the deep recess of the oceans, almost slithering through the waters in it's extra long sleel body and webbed feet. The powerful fire dragon whose powerful legs and wings created earth tremors and send a soft wind in all directions. The foresty woods dragon, shy of strangers so they create lush forests to hide in. Then the lily dragon, graceful and beautiful, delicately rising from the water to show you that even the muddy depths of a pond beauty could be found.
These were small paintings I did for a book making class where I bound it all together in ribbons and put it away. I used to draw a lot when I was young, I didn't care that I had no art skill. Looking back at these pieces I can see a lot of mistakes but I can still fondly remember how happy painting them made me.
After coming to this fandom about 6 months ago, my love of dragons have slowly resurfaced as well as my desire to paint again. I've dug up old water color pencils I still need to use and, I found my student grade water colors I bought for myself when I lived abroad. The quality is questionable but my desire to use them is not.
Thank you furry fandom for revitalizing a part of me I had forgotten and I hope to share with you my dragons version 2.0 !
