What I've never understood is wanting to kill them for being just a "spider", the only time I ever do the dirty deed of harming one is if it is some place where I cannot safely retrieve it to release it, or if it is not considered "safe" , otherwise I just put them outside :O
Like yeah I don't want a spider in my bed or on me but my first instinct is to get it away and off of me, not to hurt it??? Spiders are really scared of people, if you touch them they usually run away because they are afraid you are going to hurt them :(

I live out in the country. Our house litterly looks like the movie arachnophobia in warmer weather, like right now. If we lived in the city and I saw a spider every now and then, maybe I'd have more mercy.
But not when you can't feel safe in your own home because it's covered in brown recluse, which a few years ago my little sister was hospitalized for being bit and still has a scar.
Out here, even if I kept putting spiders outside they will come back in, with eggs which they have. It's not ok to not being able to sleep because your bed and house it covered in spiders.
I wish I was being dramatic.
We really don't have a choice. However, I like garden spiders. I've always fed them and was nice to them. Because they aren't all up in our clothes laying eggs.

AHh our last house had a brown widow infestation and I had one climb into my pants while I slept and nailed me on the butt and it was horrid, ended up with a soft-ball sized lump that was to say at the least Very painful and very infected, took 3 months of antibiotics and doctors visits before it healed, widow bits also leave some nasty scars and brown widows are a hybrid spider when a black has babies with a non-widow spider *cringes*
