Janice fidgeted nervously in the kitchen as she pretended to be finishing up dinner for her family. This was the first time since it had started that her entire family had been home and she was terrified that it would happen again. Hearing her family being distracted by the T.V. she decided to make a run for her room to look in the mirror quickly to hopefully put her mind at ease.
Thankfully the only thing that was reflected was her normal human self. Janice smiled to herself a bit at her reflection, she was approaching 40 in a few years and she had held up well in her opinion, her brown wavy hair still shone, and her face had few wrinkles, though she was more to her hips than she liked.
Heading back to the kitchen Janice finished up the dinner she had been delaying and set it on the table, calling her family over. The dinner started out well, with good conversation about how her Twin boys had been doing at college and her husbands day at work. Not noticing that she had been scratching her arms and legs rather often, though her husband seemed to take note.
“You ok honey? Your scratching and awful lot” he asked a bit concerned.
“I’m Fine...I Just..uhh...spilled some pepper when i was making dinner, its just making me a little itchy..” she said giving off a fake smile, as her husband shrugged and went back to his dinner. She hadn’t even realized she was scratching that much, but now that she thought about it she realized that she had been hitting the salad more often than normal as well.
Freezing up in fear a bit, but not enough to alert the others at the table, Janice carefully ate a piece of the meatloaf she had made. She nearly gagged, it tasted horrible, this only confirmed her fears as she forced herself to swallow it.
“Not now, not here!” she thought to herself as she felt herself start to hyperventilate, her breaths seeming to grow deeper with each breath. Taking a particularly deep breath that seemed to strain the buttons on her shirt more than she liked, she tried to calm down. Panicking would not help right now, even though a bubbling instinct in her mind encouraged her to do so.
“I’ll be right back” she said putting on a fake smile and getting up from the table and fast walking to the kitchen where she leaned against the door as she closed it behind her. She had to get out of here before they saw, but how to do it without them wondering where she went.
“The phone!!” she whispered to herself in a deeper voice than she remembered as she quickly dialed the house number from her cell phone, it taking a few tries, her fingers stiffening already. “Oh hello? Sharon what’s going on? Ok, i'll be righhht over.” Janice said overly loud so her family could hear her. Taking a deep breath Janice winced as her top button became undone from the action, letting her breath out, she quickly redid the button and looked at her reflection in the window, silently cursing as the points of her ears were showing as they grew. Janice quickly hid them in her hair before heading back into the dining room.
“That was sharon, she needs me to go over to her house and check up on her dogs till she gets back, apparently they shut down the bridge and she can’t get home tonight” She smiled, trying to sound convincing while also not showing her teeth which felt larger already.
“Oh well I hope it opens up soon, you can head over after dinner” Her husband Garry said looking at her a little odd, as if he caught onto what she was hiding.
“I really should go now….they’ve beeeen locked in the cages all day” Janice winced, as she felt herself stress the “e” in “been” too much.
“Come now, 10 minutes won’t hurt them at all, no reason for you to not finish dinner” Gerry insisted and patted her seat.
“Fine..I suppose you're right” Janice said hurrying to sit down, not liking the creak her chair gave off or the pinch she felt above her butt as something wiggled.
She tried to get the meatloaf in her mouth but it was even worse than before so she just ignored it and worked on her mashed potatoes. Eating quickly despite trying to not appear to be wolfing it down. She was glad gerry had convinced her to stay, she felt ravenous as she took 2nds, then thirds of everything but the meatloaf which sat alone and cold on her plate.
It wasn’t till she dropped her fork for the third time in a row that she broke from her trance to see her family staring at her oddly. “Guess I was hungrier than I thought” she smiled nervously forgetting her by now blocky teeth for a moment before quickly covering them with her lips.
“You okay mom?” her boys asked still staring at her
“Yeees...of course boys” she said getting up, her belly pressing against her shirt a bit, probably filled with all the food she just ate, at least that’s what she hoped they thought. “I should probably get going now” she started to walk away slowly not wanting to stress her pants which had gotten awfully tight around her legs compared to when she sat down.
“Honey hold on a second...what’s that?” Gerry said pointing to her butt
Janice froze and reached around and felt the large visible lump in the seat of her pants, it moving a bit underneath her hands. “Oh Neeeeiighthing-” Janice’s hands claped to cover her mouth as she pressed her butt against a wall to hide the tail.
“Was that a neigh?” Her family said in almost unison at her outburst.
“Of Course not!!” Janice laughed nervously slowly making her way towards the door, she needed to escape before she lost control completely, her humanity seemed to be slipping through her increasingly stiff hands right in front of the people she wanted to see it the least.
“Honey something's wrong, what is it?” Gerry asked concerned now, and starting to get up.
His answer came as Janice’s Pants button flew off and conked him right in the forehead sending him back into his seat, much to janice's horror as she lost all control and her changes surged forward. She had been slowly growing larger ever since her husband had spotted her tail, but the loss of her button was like gun going off for a horse race as she felt her body surge in all directions.
She sneezed as he face pushed out into a small muzzle her nose swelling with each passing moment. As her attempts to see if gerry was okay, only came out as grunts and neighs.
Her tail burst to freedom as her swelling behind tore the seat of her pants, the long flowing brown hairs swishing back and forth madly with her fear.
A step away from the wall sent her toppling forward onto the deformed hands that were mostly hooves at this point as they landed on the table, keeping her somewhat upright as her feet joined them as hooves broke free of her socks which had been struggling to contain them since she had returned after the fake phone call.
Gerry had recovered and retreated from the table along with the twins as his wife continued to grow as she leaned against the table, a rich tan fur seeming to sprout from everywhere except for her arms which were white.
Janice was too caught up in the horrifying reality that she was turning into a horse in front of her family, on her dining room table to do much more than try to keep steady, last thing she wanted to do was crush one of her sons.
With a final pop from her new muzzle Janice felt the changes slow to a stop as she looked dizzily in front of her at her terrified family, she was now a fully grown horse, only the torn scraps of her cloths lying on the floor and table any indication she was human.
Janice attempted to give a friendly smile, but the table decided to give into the half-ton horse leaning on it at that moment as it broke under her forehooves sending her rolling to her side on top of the wreckage of their dinner.
Shaking the potatoes out of her mane, she looked at her family and nickered nervously. She had a lot of explaining to do...when she could talk again that is.
