Short story time!
Somewhere in the darkness of 1997 I created Adonis; a creature inspired from a dream. He wasn't exactly a panther, or a lion; yet was cat-like. I remembered meeting a HUGE shaggy half mane long tassel tailed beast of a critter, with gold feral-like eyes. He spoke with a deep guttural voice. At first glance he appears to be a big goofy kitty-thing whose fur coat was similar to a binturong.
As time went on as I gotten to know him better, he began to show his other side. He was like a creature stuck in between trying to fit into the 'civilized' world with me; all the while his instincts presented an internal conflict within him. I recall one dream his massive jaws crushed a man's head like a melon. Fast forward, we simply grew apart due to his longing to return to being free to roam. Adonis didn't like people, much less society and preferred to stay away from it.
The last dream I had of the big critter was a few years ago. It was of me flying away from him- because he made a reputation of attacking people unprovoked- never has he done this to me and I wasn't sticking around to find out. He lunged 50+ something feet up into the air (my dreams SUCK on physics), seizes me within his massive bear-like paws and... gives me a bear hug.
He lays back, still with my tiny body within his arms. I then sit up and this was the first time I really took a notice to his long shaggy tail with a tassel tip, watching it swish across the ground. That thing alone had to be at least 15ft long alone. He was simply huge dark and ploofy; and goofy only around me.
Sadly the reunion scene faded out and I never seen the big ol' critter again.
I have a few pictures of Adonis my art gallery. I am revisiting the big guy because he simply doesn't have any updated pics of him and I was glossing over old book material wondering, "Hey, he was actually kinda cool for a character. LEMME DRAW EM!"
