More saber tooth cats!
Ferr and Ash are highland barbarians who’ve left their respective tribes behind and travel the land together. Ferr was always a somewhat lackluster fighter and didn't have the aggressiveness of his tribesmates, which gave him trouble to keep up with the cats’ very spartan way of life in their unforgiving environment. Having been treated like crap for in their eyes not contributing enough to the tribe, he finally gets sick of it and takes off with one of his chief’s trophies.
While on the run he comes across Ash, a lone warrior looking for her lost home. Ash has traveled alone for as long as she remembers, briefly staying with tribes if it benefited her but never settling, as she hopes to come across clues of where she’s from. She recognizes the trophy Ferr stole as coming from the place she was born, and they decide to head out looking for it together.
Ash is a bit of a grump, she prefers being alone and isn’t interested in much except for fighting and getting home. She warms up to Ferr when his knowledge of the land and tracking skills prove helpful on her quest, and he generally leaves her be. Ferr is rather more patient and peaceful than her, but is happy to be around someone who doesn’t look down on him and provides some protection now that he has no tribe.
These two live in some prehistoric-is world where tribes of barbarian cats, rather more savage dire wolves and hyeanadon and much more technologically advanced human explorers and colonists roam desolate tundras and mountains. Family groups of cats used to constantly fight eachother over hunting spots and ancient grudges, but with the arrival of humans and their inevitable threat to their resources, have formed tribes ruled by a council of heads of each family and a single chief who's proven themself the best fighter among them.
