This is Petina's pet Cookie, who is a hamster she bought in from a vendor in Andur a while back. Now Cookie is not spectacular in anyway but he is magically enchanted.
Tom_Clowder thinks he's a failed project of some sorcerer's apprentice who sold him off to make back some of their losses in the project. For one thing Cookie is approaching five years in age which apparently is ancient for a hamsters but he appears to not be slowing down.
More importantly you can visibly observe Cookie's thought process when he really thinks about something. First there will be a little pop, pop, pop sound and a classic cartoon thought bubble will appear over his head. Then there will be a series of old fashion cash register "ka-ching!" sound effects and then a series of "Hello Kitty" style icons will start to appear in the bubble along with basic mathematic symbols. Cookie's thoughts are not deep and usually revolve around getting food. A typical thought goes like. Cookie + happy Petina = food pellet. Then images will fade and new ones will appear. Food pellet + Cookie = Happy Cookie! When gets a good or happy thought it usually make this little bell "ding" sound. If it is an unpleasant or scary thought it is often is accompanied by a game show "Bzzzz!" wrong answer sound effect. Why he should have cash register and game show sound effects in the 14th century no one knows. It just appears to be part of the magic that makes him unique.
What is also fascinating is that Petina when she gets frustrated with where Cookie's chain of thought is going can smack the thought bubble which will cause the little icons to fall in a jumble to the bottom of the word bubble. Sometimes Petina will then grab a crayon and will start scribbling real basic, and crude, icons of her own showing how"she" thinks things went. This often causes Cookie to act as if he's has a seizure!
These sketches also bring up another very important point about the difference between mice, rats and other non-sentient rodents in my dreamscapes. If you look at Cookie's eyes and the eyes on the hamsters sketches I posted recently. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1949370/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1949392/ you'll notice that he has they are iconic little black bulging eyes that most rodents have. Petina on the other hand has human-style eyes http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1392060/. Cookie like most rodents is not blessed with great vision. In fact it is pretty poor. They make up for this lack of vision by having excellent hearing and smell. Mice, and rats, in this world though possess vision that approaches if not matches human-sized individuals for distance, clarity, color accuracy and motion detection, and they do this while having pupils that even when fully dilated are still smaller than fully contracted human-sized eyes. This has baffled and befuddled scientist and doctors for years since they can not determine why mice eyes should be so much more efficient? Most people just accept the fact that this is some leftover magic from the time when "The Event" occurred and created all the intelligent species on Earth. It's hardly a satisfying answer but no conclusive theory has arisen yet to explain what "The Event" was.

You are correct in that all my furry dreamscapes/universes have a common starting point which I've called The Event. It represents the moment, period in time, in which intelligent species suddenly sprung up all over the world from apparently nowhere. It is greatest source of discussion, argument, debate, and conflict in the world.
Bwahaha, that's cute.
Many years back, a friend of mine in University created a character for a Champions role-playing game (Champions being a superhero RPG, for those unfamiliar with it). The character could make speech balloons and thought bubbles appear over his head like that, as well as over other people's heads. Combine this with Telepathy so he could read other people's thoughts to make them appear in their thought bubbles, and Universal Translator so people speaking in other languages would have their speech balloons show up in English with the usual angle bracket quotes used in comics.
Needless to say, it was a very silly game.
