Ha, I remember a friend of the family doing something similar to that trick in the last panel when I was a child. Fortunately, he doesn't seem to be having much of a problem getting the others to take to him right now, though I doubt this is a situation he ever expected to find himself in!
"In fact there are three freely convertible currencies in the Galaxy, but none of them count. The Altarian Dollar has recently collapsed, the Flainian Pobble Bead is only exchangeable for other Flainian Pobble Beads, and the Triganic Pu has its own very special problems. It exchange rate of eight Ningis to one Pu is simple enough, but since Ningi is a triangular rubber coin six thousand eight hundred miles along each side, no one has ever collected enough to own one Pu. Nigis are not negotiable currency, because Galactibanks refuse to deal in fiddling small change. From this basic premise it is very simple to prove that the Galactibanks are also the product of a deranged imagination." (From HHGttG)
Oh, this is fun. To "kiss," they open their mouths a bit, lock their shellteeth behind one anothers', and then go from there. And many of the females do live their whole lives constantly near the others, so there are certainly all sorts of different, sometimes intimate relationships that develop.
this was probably the best comic panel page yet. Others may have reflected on other events, had more story, etc. But we went from sadness and general issues of being another species, to literally the funniest thing I've seen in here yet with the fact everyone is totally amused by the friend.
Interesting what might be invented soon. With mirrors and lens (Vizlet wears glasses) we could quickly get telescopes and microscopes (Ran would really love those). Baramor presumably has gunpowder (Temple rigged to explode) and that is so easy to make if you know the secret that it is sure to leak out eventually. Printing just needs typesetter's metal.
It's really hard to accept the new form like that because it's kind of like giving up. But taking the time to adjust it is another way to cope even if it's just from fleeting hope that there will be a way to change back to normal. It's just that it's a problem if that hope is the "only" thing that's pushing yourself forward.
That's very true, and exactly what Kass is talking about here! Hope can be a dangerous thing if one is hoping for something that will never come. On the other hand, giving up resistance to something like this really does seem like giving up/in, even though there's really no alternative.
* clever comments. Deep discussion. *
Love how enamored the lady is with the illusion. Also walleyes are simply wonderful in your story, so funny!
Wonder how Kassen is going to take the gravity of the situation? Wonder if we get to see some horrific/weird dream sequence about the last few days with her.

Well, I've already discussed my thoughts on Kassen's yinglet instincts that seemingly want to take over, and I think that ties into his self-identity issues. If he accepts the change that has affected him in so many ways, then life might not be so bad. However, it may feel like giving up in a way, but acceptance is an important necessity to life or one will never move on. I don't know if Kass holding on to hope that he'll will one day be human again would do more harm than good.
Also, neat magic trick. I kinda wish all the girls were there jumping up and down excitedly clapping their hands. The child-like wonder yinglets have is mesmerizing.

My brain is like a fried egg right now. Has it ever been stated or set how long the days are in Val Salia?
I feel like Yinglets may experience some drift in their daily rythmn depending on how well their sleep schedule fits the amount of time in a day. Then again it may not be notable at all given what seems to be a general lack of time keeping devices and yinglet attention span.
And now I'm thinking of the people who have yinglet pets or maids... at the buttcrack of dawn there is the sound of scrabbling, something hitting the floor and a sharp 'EEEEEEEE!' guess you are awake now...

Fun fact: Humans can adapt to similar sleep cycles, and it *does* increase how much of the day you can spend alert compared to asleep. the downside is your sleep schedule becomes inflexible. You *must* take naps at schedule times, otherwise you start immediately suffering sleep fatigue.
