Lady Liberty vs "Boom-Boom" Betty (commission)
Commission for
train and my first superhero(ine)/supervillan(ess) battle scene. This pic depicts a scene about 1/3 of the way into this story written by
mojorover also as a commission (thought I didn't remember that one, eh? :D)
One of Boom-Boom Betty's henchmen has swiped something that belongs to Lady Liberty's civillian self, and then there's the matter of that jewelry shop that BBB and her co-horts will be knocking over in just a few minutes. But you'll have to read Mojo's story linked above to find out the rest--there's a lot of material to cover:)
Notes:
--This pic appears to have been done while the story was being written or I wasn't aware of it being written while I was drawing it. My pic takes place in a warehouse (logical place for a crime gang to hide out, no?) but the story as written places this particular moment in an abandoned parking garage.
Technical:
--The pencils for this image were hand-inked with a paintbrush and India ink, meaning the original pencils don't exist anymore. Fortunately I scanned them, because for the purposes of this image, they were re-imported into the project after brush-inking the characters and digitally cleaning up their linework. The restored pencils were then used to digitally ink the backdrop using a poly-line tool for the very fine, very precise linework that contrasts with the dynamic lineweight of the brush-inked characters in the foreground. I may have to revisit this tactic in future pics, especially when it comes to action shots like this one.
Pencil on bristol, inked with brush+India ink and digital line tool. Processed in Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 (max filesize TBD)
