Plus, Simba and Sora have already met. More likely than not, it was Simba's idea to adopt him to begin with.
Simba: "Found him in the Graveyard trying to fend off the hyenas by swinging a bone around in his mouth." *hands him off to Nala* "Kiara? Kion? Fancy having a little brother?"
Sora: "Little? Simba, I'm older than both of them combi-" *is licked across the face*

I can explain that. Sora thought he'd come see how his friends of the Pridelands were doing since the heartless were staying queit. However, with the new clothes he just received from the 3 good fairies again, his clothes had a malfuntion and regressed him to the baby cub he is now. Now he's desperately trying in vain to get away from a bath the Queen of the Pridelands is giving him.
Don't know how Zazu's gonna explain "this" to Simba.

Three other possibilities:
#1: Sora spent a brief amount of time as a heartless, and was reformed to physical form by Kairi. Though he appears mature, his actual age as a physical being has been reset. He remains mature in worlds where his default form is at least partially compatible, but in the Pride Lands or anywhere else where he receives a new body altogether, he "regresses" back to his actual physical age.
#2: Sora receives the same alt. form every time he journeys back to the Pride Lands, IE: his age "resets" every time he leaves, meaning he will only grow and mature into an adult lion if he stays there.
#3: Sora's lion form only ages when in a physical state and remains "paused" when immaterial. So if, say, Sora visited the Pride Lands once a week, his lion form would age 1/7 the rate of the rest of the pride. And if, as is more likely for a keyblade wielder, he left and didn't come back until many years later, he'd still be the exact same age he was when he left.

2 more possilities:
1. Xemnas had made a deal with Sora, saying that if Sora let him spend 1 year in one of the worlds he visited before, the Heartless would stay relatively minimal, and all his friends would be safe from the Heartless. Not wanting to pass up an opportunity to protect his friends, Sora agrees. However, he didn't know there was a catch, and when he was sent to the pridelands, Xemnas had regressed Sora into a baby lion cub for a good laugh so that Simba's pride had to take care of him til he was old enough.
2. During his adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow to find the fountain of youth, because it was the only way to save his form from turning heartless again, he drank the cup with the tear and an evil being drank the other thinking it was the one with the tear. Sora seemed to stay the same age. Little did he know that when he visited the Pridelands on his next adventure, he would be separated from his friends, Donald, Goofy, Riku and Kairi, and find himself a baby lion cub, being spoiled with a bath by the lioness he helped to become Queen of the Pridelands.
