First of two scenery illustrations that I had to do, this one being the outside of the chosen theme.

Yup, went with the Tower of Babel. The intent was to have the tower being influenced by some classical paintings, but trying to be much more imposing, while (oddly for me) keeping in mind a design that would allow the tower to not only be built much more realistically (for the alleged building power of the structure), but to continue being expanded to the sides, in order to support a much taller reach.
Which is also why I made the city surrounding it much flatter, to show that it's merely a temporary residential area (albeit a very expansive one), and the intent is for it to serve as future support for the tower's base, for both workers and citizens to move inside the Tower itself. And one final aspect is of course the dugged-out mountains, that still linger as a quarry.
Definitely a fun one to do. Got some perspective suggestions and learned a few tricks, I'm happy with it. You can also find the process and studies for these images here: http://henpendrips.tumblr.com/post/.....cess-pages-for
