This is a snip from the center of pages 10 and 11 of Five Glasses of Absinthe - a detail of a two-page spread of the city where the story opens.

Every page has a background with this level of detail. Now you know why it's taking so long! Chapter one will hopefully go online sometime this March.

I love this. I love when you draw buildings and cityscapes... I love everything about this, the angles, Absinthe being the opposite color, the fade, the texture.

Marshalling hue *and* color contrast *and* composition to direct your eye right to the narrative points I want you to see! And then filling everything else in with detail... aerial perspective is SO useful.

The best part is that the story and script my boyfriend is doing is worth hanging sumptuous visuals off of - I've seen so many comics with gorgeous visuals and insultingly simple stories!

Very beautiful and impressive! The "Public Elevator" sign caught my imagination, and now I'm thinking of a dizzyingly vertical city with public elevators along the lines of bus or tram lines in more ordinary towns.
