Roose being an alien, he goes all around the universe and meets all types of beings.

This particular guy is from a race called the Secutis. They're basically a type of organism that has a consistency close to ink, and they continue their lives by finding a host on whom they turn into tattoos on their skin, able to move on and off, making them pretty useful familiars. They can't talk vocally, and instead speak with a weak telepathy that only allows them to speak into other minds.
