Sunny days, the best days to stay inside to write a report that was due at the end of the month.
A green shiny Zangoose was sitting in his room, writing on his laptop about the regions of the world. This Zangoose is me; Aladar Seon, and I would be lying if I said I was having the time if my life right now. It was almost the end of the school year, and the last big assignment was this paper I was doing.
I live in Unova by the way, and right now it was way too hot.
“Though, recently a new region was lifted from the darkness that separated this world from others.” I wrote. “This region is named Alola, and it’s made up of a group of tropical islands.”
That was pretty much all I wrote on the matter.
Seeing how this region was recently uncovered, I knew very little about it.
There was going to be a Alola seminar for Unova soon to introduce some of the new pokemon to the region. This was going to take place in the city of Sitcon, so I planning on going there sometime this week to meet some of the new pokemon and learn about the place.
I closed my laptop and got up to stretch.
“I have until the end of the month.” I said to myself. “I am not going to spend the day inside. I’ll die of heatstroke.”
That said, I left my room to enter the rest of my empty house.
Mom and Dad were overseas to spend their honeymoon in Hoenn, and Leaf was Arceus knows where. I pretty much had the whole house to myself for a while, not that I really cared, but some company wouldn’t hurt right now.
I went outside and was greeted to the bright afternoon sun shining in my face.
The temperature outside was still pretty bad, but it wasn’t as bad as it was inside since there was a breeze on the wind.
Kids were playing in the streets, the ice cream truck was making its rounds. I guess pretty much everyone was ready for summer, and I don’t blame them.
But one thing: this summer was supposed to be the hottest one on record.
I really wasn’t looking forward to that.
Seeing how complaining would get me nowhere, I began walking around, seeing if I could find a few familiar faces.
A lot of people were swarming the ice cream truck, so I started there. I wasn’t really surprised that the truck was out by the time I got there, but I did run into one of my adult friends, who was happily eating an ice cream sandwich.
“Hey Soundwave.” I said to the Alakazam. “Didn’t expect to see you here.”
Soundwave turned his head to face me, and as soon as he did, his eyes shot open and he let out a large gasp.
I couldn’t help but blush because now everyone was staring at us.
“Aladar, I saw a vision!” He said, inhaling the ice cream he had before grabbing both of my shoulders. “I saw a bright, shining sun in your future!”
“Oh really?” I replied sarcastically. “Maybe you should focus more on what was going on instead of the weather.”
Not only was I embarrassed, but a little rain in my future would sound a lot better.
This heat was killing me.
“That’s not what I mean!” He replied back. “I saw it, a large pokemon appearing in your bed with you during the night, shining like a sun!”
People were now gossiping among themselves.
Soundwave was a pretty good guy, but despite having the ability to see visions of the future, he’s either too vague about them or not subtle about them at all.
“Why don’t we go talk about this elsewhere.” I said, leading the older male away from the crowd.
Despite being a little red in the face, I was interested in what Soundwave had to say. Soundwave wasn’t really the type to get so excited over a vision, and I felt that it must have been important since he blurted it out to everyone in the neighborhood.
“So Soundwave, you said you saw a pokemon shining like a sun in your vision.” I said as the two of us walked. “Did you see their face?”
“No.” He said and shook his head. “His whole body was cloaked in a bright light. I saw the dark of night, and suddenly he flashed in front of me.”
That wasn’t really much to work with.
“How did you know it was my room he was in?” I asked.
“My visions only activate when I look at the person it relates to, so I just assumed.” The Alakazam replied. “And I saw that he was on a bed, so that’s also how I assumed it took place in your room on your bed.”
I was a little confused, so I tried to think.
I didn’t know any pokemon that knew the move flash, let alone anyone who could pull a stunt like appearing in my bed in the middle of the night.
“There’s more.” Soundwave continued. “Your room was a mess, I saw scratch marks and shurikens all over the walls.”
Huh?
I really didn’t like the sound of that.
“Do you know when this is going to happen?” I asked.
“I’m not sure, all I know is that it’s gonna happen in the near future.” He stated. “I can’t exactly pinpoint the time when it happens.”
That doesn’t really make me feel any better, but I guess it’s better than nothing.
I guess I’d better lock my doors and windows from now on.
The last thing I want is to get impaled by a ton of shurikens.
“Why don’t we go get some ice cream?” Soundwave asked, changing the subject.
“Wow, I didn’t know you were such a kid.” I replied. “Also, can you help me do my report?”
“You don’t outgrow ice cream kid.” He stated. “And I could help you out, but I’m choosing not to, because asking an Alakazam for help is cheating. You know I’ll give you more information than I’d like to.”
Damn, he caught on quickly.
“I can however loan you a tuxedo for the seminar you’re attending. It is going to be a formal event after all.” He replied with a smile. “After we get ice cream of course.”
Well, looks like I’m not getting out of this one…
xXOOOOOXx
Well, I guess it’s time for bed.
I spent the rest of the day with Soundwave eating ice cream and getting a tuxedo tailored to my size. My report wasn’t going to be due for a while, and I could easily research after the seminars had taken place, but I guess that experience is better.
I looked at my laptop that was on the floor as I changed into my night clothes.
“I’m a bit nervous, but I’ll live through the seminar.” I said to myself.
Seeing how I was a shiny and all, going to large public events wasn’t really my idea of a good time. Part of me still wanted to wait until after the seminar, but I just couldn’t not go.
A smile then appeared on my face.
“Now that I think of it, the Alola pokemon might not even know what a shiny Zangoose is.” I said to myself. “Unless another Zangoose happens to show up, I could probably get around without drawing too much attention to myself.”
After getting changed, I set my alarm and hopped into bed.
Just as I was about to drift into dreamland, my eyes shot open.
I remembered the vision that Soundwave had; apparently in the near future that guy was going to show up in my bed during the nighttime. A large man, shining as bright as the sun, and my room was supposed to be messed up with shurikens and scratch marks.
I couldn’t shake the feeling of dread that was welling up in my stomach.
What if someone is going to break into my house?
Dear Arceus, I was paranoid now.
“Shit!!” I cursed and jumped out of bed. “I forgot to lock the doors and windows downstairs!”
Running as fast as I could, I left the room, turning on every single light on my way there. Going from the living room, the kitchen, and the front and back entrances, every door and window downstairs was sealed shut.
Why Soundwave? Why couldn’t you have had this vision for Leaf?
Taking a deep breath, I cautiously turned off all the lights downstairs while making my way back to my room.
Despite all of that though, I still felt very worried.
It’s like one of those times in a movie when no matter how much you prepare, it was going to happen anyway.
“No, don’t think like that.” I said as I crawled into bed. “Just relax, and try to get some sleep.”
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Everything will be fine.
…
I felt like I was forgetting to lock something very obvious.
“Ahem.”
That sound was all that was needed for me to jump out of bed and press myself against the nearest wall.
Looking to where the sound was, I saw a Serperior and a Greninja looking at me with unamused looks, and pointing to the window that was right next to my bed.
I lowered my head in shame.
“And you did all of that preparation too.” The Serperior stated. “I almost feel bad that we have to capture you.”
“C-capture?”
“Yup.” The snake replied with a smile. “Shiny pokemon are quite rare, especially ones that are not even the right color. Our client wants you.”
Great.
Well, time to call for help.
'Soundwave!!!' I thought, doing my best not to make a weird face while doing so. 'There are two strange people in my house, send help!!!'
I have been able to telepathy for the longest time, but I have no clue if he got the message or not.
“If you come come willingly, we won’t need to hurt you.” The snake continued. “Plus I think our client would prefer no injuries on that fine body of yours.”
I blushed at that comment.
Before I was able to reply, the Greninja lunged at me, creating a dark sword in his hand that I assumed was Night Slash. I quickly was able to step out of the way, but now there was a large slash in my wall.
Not thinking, I was about to make my way downstairs, but the Serperior tripped me using his vines, I also had to dodge the shurikens that were flying in my direction.
“Woah buddy, cool it.” The snake said to the frog. “Didn’t I just say that our client didn’t want any scars on him?”
The Greninja growled.
“This is boring.” The water-type replied. “I’m tired of search and capture, I want to kill.”
I really didn’t like the sound of that.
“Let’s just kill this little bitch.” He continued. “We’ll just find another shiny. I want to hear him scream as I slowly drain the blood from his body.”
'Okay, anyone who can hear this.' I weakly thought. 'I could really use a hand right now!'
As if my mind was just read, a bright flash filled my vision, and to my surprise, I was right back in my bed.
Was that a dream?
I let out a little sigh of relief, then closed my eyes again.
Let’s not try to have another dream like that again.
Almost a second after closing my eyes, I felt a presence rub up against my back, and my ears shot up when a large arm was wrapped itself around my torso. Someone was behind me, clearly because I felt breathing down my neck.
I tried to look at the figure behind me, but their body was cloaked in light. In contrast to the darkness that my eyes were adjusted to, it was impossible to make out who it was.
“Shh…” I heard whispered into my ear. “You are safe little one. Close your eyes, and go to sleep.”
Even with my eyes closed, the light in my room was bright at the sun. I really wanted to ask who this guy was, but I felt like my energy had been drained.
With each passing second, the light in my room dimmed until it was darkness once more.
I was finally able to slip one question from my lips.
“Wh-who are you?”
The man behind me chuckled, and to my surprise, I felt a pair of lips softly being pressed against mine.
“You will find out very soon, little one.” He replied, soon going back to nuzzling the back of my neck.
Consciousness left my body soon after.
xXOOOOOXx
All of the next day I thought of what had happened the previous night.
When I had woken up, I was alone in my bed, but what happened last night was definitely not a dream since the walls of my room were still scratched up and had shurikens in them.
There were no trace of the pokemon that had attacked me either, but I assumed that the guy who rescued me took care of them.
It wasn’t until six in the evening that I decided to take my mind off of what happened, but that’s because it was seminar time.
Okay, deep breath.
I stepped out of the bus in my tuxedo with a clipboard and pen, now standing in front of the building that the seminar was taking place in. Peeking inside, I saw loads of pokemon that I had never seen before.
All of them were Alola pokemon.
“Welcome!”
I was slightly startled by the voice that just spoke; it came from a little blue seal that had decided to hug my leg.
“Hey look everyone,” The seal called out. “Our first visitor has arrived!”
First visitor? Was I the first person from around here to arrive?
Suddenly all the Alola pokemon turned and looked at me.
Since there was nothing other to do, I went inside and was greeted by nearly every pokemon in there. Once I began chatting with them and told them I was a Hoenn pokemon, I apparently became the “Hoenn representative” for this seminar. I already knew that Kyurem was coming because this was the Unova seminar, but I guess I felt somewhat honored.
Well, if anything, I might be able to get to talk to both Kyurem and one of the Alola leaders today.
Soon more people began to arrive at the seminar. The attention drifted away from me, so I took this time to get some punch from the banquet tables, as well as look over the notes I have written down that I took from talking to the Alola pokemon.
As I was looking at my notes, I heard some classical music beginning to play, and saw that people were selecting partners to dance with.
“I think I’ll pass on dancing.” I said to myself.
“Aww, I was hoping that you would like to dance with me.”
I froze when I heard that.
That voice…
I set my clipboard down on the table and turned around to someone really tall. My face was literally aligned with his chest, and I had to look up just to see his face.
He was a lion; he had white fur, some red gems on his mane, and had some weird golden spikes that lined up with his sun-shaped mane. Not only was he really tall, but muscular too; as in, his tuxedo was probably a size too small because his muscles were easily being shown off.
The most interesting thing about him though was that from his snout to his forehead was a galaxy-blue, and his eyes were white with his pupils being blue.
They were actually quite pretty.
He extended his hand for me to take.
“My name is Solgaleo, but you can call me Sol.” The feline said. “And you must be Aladar, our Hoenn representative.”
I blushed, half from embarrassment, and half from shaking his hand.
“Well, I was only called that because I was the first Hoenn pokemon to arrive.” I replied with a chuckle. “Well, it’s nice to meet you.”
“The pleasure is all mine, little one.”
I froze again.
Little One... There was no doubt about it now, this was the guy who saved me from those guys last night, as well as the guy from Soundwave’s vision.
“So, about that dance,” Sol stated with a smile. “Will you join me?”
“S-sure.” I replied nervously, and he escorted me to the dancefloor.
This was going to be one long night.
