I found this feather on one of my walks, now I have no clue what bird it came from. I was near the river so it might be a wild bird or it could be from a chicken, there are lots of free roaming chickens in the town where I was at.

That's a barn owl feather. I'm 99% sure of it. If it has an extremely soft coat of peach fuzz-like stuff on it it's definately an owl. And not to worry you at all (this is just an FYI), bird of prey feathers are illegal to keep without a license, especially endangered ones cause they require special licenses on top of the normal falconry license.
