I was getting really good in GraphicsGale so I decided to redo what is the first foray into pixel art screwing with this sonic type echidna.(the right one)
Let's just say that even though it was a finished product, it was a HOT MESS. Photoshop and Gale put up wildly different color counts (154 and 81) both way too many. It's like 75 x 50. Plus it had such weird stuff going on, I don't know what I was thinking. I think I took 15-20 hours on it too.
The one I did to the left started out as the one to the right. I took some liberties removed the hair and the gloves and added some rings on those dreads. There's still some problems, but the color count is now 24/26, the form is loads better and there's a good chance that even the Genesis can handle this since I used only those colors and reduced the size to 35 x 55. Plus it took me less than 4 hours.
So yay progress!

It's kinda hard to see the rings on her dreads, but honestly, I think the new sprite looks fairly good so far! I think the dress needs a teeny bit more contrast to stand out from her pink fur, personally, but honestly, this much better than I could do, I think--I'm not too good with Sonic-styled sprites yet. >w< Keep up the great work, Runde, your animations of Big are seriously awesome, and you're very talented in my eyes. owo
The rings I think I have to get them thicker, along with some other stuff I need to do with this sprite like I think she'll do better if the dress was something of a sky blue instead of yellow orange. I dunno.
I really am pleasantly surprised on so many people taking onto this idea of having Big as a possible playable Sonic character. It kind of motivates me to make my next animation greater than the last! Sonic type sprites are hard though it's mostly without lines.
Don't sell yourself short, you do nice work yourself from the brief time that I have visited your page, in fact you just got a watch.

Ooh, and I look forward to seeing those further changes, Runde--making the rings bigger/more noticeable, and using a shade of blue for the dress sounds very nice already! I think blue would contrast nicely, or even a different shade of yellow. Experimentation always yields some interesting results, even some we don't expect until we give it a shot. owo
And honestly, I'm a BIG fan of Big, and having him playable would be so awesome! I didn't mind his levels in Adventure too much, despite a bit of tedium in catching/finding Froggy, since the slower pace was kinda relaxing, honestly. Big's Fishing Derby makes it even better, too. XD
And aww, shucks, thank you so much, I'm honored! I do love to sprite, even though I haven't done much of it here lately. I'll have to get back to it, and/or experiment some more, since I still feel that I'm learning new things as I go. >w< Thank you for the encouragement, and support!
