After years of being held back by lack of confidence, I finally took the plunge and bought a pony!
She's a 6 year old Haflinger, imported from the Netherlands. I haven't even had her for a full day yet, but so far she seems very calm and mellow, which is just what I need. I will get her a field companion soon, probably a sheep.
I first saw her advertised for sale online almost 3 months ago. She was living only about 3 miles away, so I arranged a visit. She was quite excitable on that day, but still very nice. Due to various other commitments I couldn't return for a while, but I finally managed to arrange yesterday for a friend that is far more knowledgeable than I to come with me for a second viewing. She passed the test, and there was no reason to delay, so I bought her and she was delivered to my house just an hour later. She seems to be settling in well - I did wonder if she would be agitated from being separated from her herdmates, but so far she is not showing any anxiety.
Yay!
