Challenge is viewable on my youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWlGRPDMCSU
The challenge was to create professional looking artwork using cheap art supplies, say dollar store brand (I used Liqui-mark) to prove that the artists' skill is what makes the artwork. Not the artists' tools.
While tools DO HELP, and I will never argue that, it takes skill and years of practice to learn to make good quality art. You need to understand your mediums and know how they work given different types of papers, different types of technique, and lastly how to make them both work in your FAVOR to achieve the look you are going for.
I have been aiming for more storybook-ish type looks with my little mouse doodles. I really feel like I succeeded in this challenge.
Tools used: Kid Made Modern paper-- the 140 lbs coldpress. Liqui-mark colored pencils, Liqui-mark 16 ct watercolor set (minus the brush because those things are always crap) A bic Cristal 1.6 MM ball point pen, a regular yellow 2 HB pencil.
