On DeviantArt, I've been steadily revamping all of the Spyro 1 bosses to make them more "fleshed-out" so they'd be less obstacles you can flame and more characters, and this guy kicked off the series.
I will be honest. The Spyro 1 bosses are nothing to write home about design-wise. In fact, when you compare them to other games that came out around that time like Crash Bandicoot or anything Rare did in the 90's, one would even say they're pretty, well, awful. Most of them were blobby messes and it's no wonder all of them were discarded.
My version of Jacques used to be Lateef's best friend, one of the few Fools who could perform dream weaving magic like the dragons could, until he decided that wielding nightmares would lead to better rewards. The nightmares twisted him until we got this wonderful monster, who takes delight in wanton acts of cruelty. The fact he was beaten by a dragon whelp probably sticks in his craw.
Also, speaking of DeviantArt, after I posted this there, two people there seriously claimed that I "stole" their Jacques because I drew him with yellow eyes, long hair, and sharp claws. Donut steel indeed.
