Name: Zzan

Power: As a jinn Zzan is a being of pure magic and is limited only by his summoner’s wishes and his interpretation of them.


Bio: Fatimi was raised by her maternal grandmother after losing the rest of her family in an terrorist attack. The pair immigrated to the United States when she was very young, and Fatima had a mostly unremarkable childhood. When Fatima reached college age her grandmother became very ill, and on her deathbed gave the doe very specific instructions on how to disposed of several family items locked away in the attic claiming them to be cursed. After she died Fatima ignored her grandmother's wishes being in desperate need for college funds and called in an antique dealer to appraise and sell the relics. She was able to get top dollar for many of the items but kept a dark pendant with black ruby setting, that seemed to call to her. From that day forward Fatima had the most blessed luck that followed her through life. Fatima graduated from Yale University and began a promising career as a psychologist, after a failed romance Fatima went to sleep one night wishing for a man who would treasure her. In her dreams she was seduced by a large lion like male who promised to whisk her away to a land of enchantment, the dream continued for several weeks only becoming more and more intense. Soon Fatima found herself sleeping more and more, the dreams becoming more real each time. Finally during one dream she found herself trapped within the dream unable to wake up, she confronted her lover who revealed the truth. He was the Jinn Zzan who was bound to obey whoever controlled the black ruby that she had inherited from her grandmother, one of her early ancestors had wished for good fortune for the family so the gem had become a good luck charm. For generation the gem had stayed in the hands of the eldest female of the family who was trained how to speak in order not to invoke the jinn or his powers, since Zzan had told the family ages ago he was bored with the never ending wish of good fortune and wish to move on to new masters. Since her wish he had a new task to treasure her, it was unfortunate for her that the wish could be interpreted in many different ways. A treasure could not only be a relationship but a valued possession and now Fatima was at the whim of a jinn. Zzan warned her that trying to escape his castle would only anger him and he then showed her several statues of his former owners, who had made poor wishes and had come to greatly regret it. Zzan promised that he would treasure Fatima for as long as she lived, but this did nothing to calm the doe since she knew how a jinn could twist words and their meaning. Zzan let her leave his castle, in order to put her mortal life in order, but told her that someday when she fell asleep she would become a treasure in his castle and that he would keep her for the rest of her mortal life, and maybe well into her next one. The harried professor awoke and found herself in a hospital being told she had fallen into a coma for some unknown reason. After she quickly recovered the doe returned home and tried to make a new wish on the gem, she was greeted by an illusion of Zzan who told her that a new wish couldn’t be made until the last one was complete, and she now only had one week until he claimed his treasure. Frantic to keep her freedom Fatima searched tirelessly for a way to counter a jinn’s wish, even to the point of calling old collages many of whom thought she had gone off her rocker. Her inquires lead her to a nearly forgotten classmate, Katherine Laveau, who had dropped off the face of the earth years ago. Katherine brought Fatima to New Orleans and revealed that she had a way to control a jinn but it would come at a price. Fatima who now only had a short time freedom left desperately agreed to do anything that the vixen wanted. Satisfied Katherine gave Fatima a silver ring setting that she said had once belonged to King Solomon, the only mortal to ever truly tame a jinn, and told the doe that once Zzan’s jewel was inside he would be bound to obey her every whim. Fatima eagler took the ring and fitted the dark ruby inside and slide it on with only minutes to spare. Zzan appeared and told Fatima that she had only won a reprieve, once the ruby was removed he would be free to grant the original wish, and told the okpia that she had traded one imprisonment for another. Wondering what the jinn had meant Fatima turned around and saw that Katherine had transformed into Voodoo Vixen and with a wave of her hand transformed Fatima into Sharizad, informing the shocked doe that she sould have numerous uses for a super villain that could command a jinn. Fatima has since settled into her new role as one of Voodoo Vixen’s minions and continually searches for a way to cancel her first ill worded wish and regain her freedom.


The relationship between Zzan and Shahrazad it an interesting one to say the least. Due the the wish Zzan honestly treasures Fatima and will not see any harm come to her, he can often come off as very possessive of his jewel as he often calls Fatima. Fatima is frightened of Zzan, but at the same time cannot deny the obvious attraction she has for the jinn, the enjoyment she has of his attention, and often admits that if the wish had been better framed she would have let him take her to his enchanted castle long ago. Zzan is easily able to seduce Fatima and continually tries to get her to remove the gem from the ring and trust him to answer her original wish. Fatima resists this, as she tells Zzan that it is foolish for her to trust him with such a poorly worded wish, something that Zzan finds admirable and entertaining. Many times it is hard to discern who is really in charge in the relationship since Zzan can often manipulate Fatima, but she can command him to do her bidding thanks to the ring.
