One of us, soon enough young one - Commission
This is a commission for a good friend named Dysta.
Dystatic-Studio
This scene is from a book that he was reading called "The Silver Token" by Alan R. Marble. I won't give away too many spoilers for those who haven't read it yet. This is when the Elder dragon and the young boy are having a conversation about the Elder dragons' tribe and what role that young boy has in regards to the dragon race.
The Elder dragon is described as so old and battled scared, with missing teeth and cracked claws, and that the color of his scales have faded grey. However, it was too bland and he blended into the mountains, so I made his scales shimmer a little gold from the sunset, and have a blue-green hue.
The boy, I had facing away from the camera. I didn't want to show his face for a few reasons, but mainly to have him staring out into horizon in deep thought as the dragon spoke to him about his future.
In the book, a black dragon appears and roars in the distance before flying towards them.
I didn't want too many details for the black dragon because it would take away from the rest of the drawing.
I do admit that I had help with the sunset. Everything else (the mountains, dragons, boy, lake) I did on paper, pencil, digital drawing and editing/coloring. Using my Wacom pen and tablet and on PS CS5.
I've also posted this commission on my MuddyTiger Deviantart account: http://muddytiger.deviantart.com/ar.....sion-615407248
